The National Conference of Artists - New York Chapter Annual 2007 Art Exhibition " An Evolving Tradition " held at the Corridor Gallery in Brooklyn, New York was a heated sensation. I made the 1,000 miles (plus) journey to attend the exhibition from Florida and was amazed by the new energy NCA-NY is generating. Many cultures and languages were there. Maestros: Kwame Brathwaite - NCA New York president, Sadikisha Collier and Danny Simmons, put on a great exhibition. The Corridor Gallery exhibition is part of a dual exhibition in conjunction with another National Conference of Artists - New York Chapter exhibition running simultaneously at the Medgar Evers College.

The National Conference of Artists' artists who participated in the exhibition were ( excuse me it I omitted anyone): Hugeaux, Chinue Ifeoma, Cassabdra Jennings Hall, Leslie Powell, Otto Neals, Emmett Wiggleworth, Abdullah Aziz, Dianne Smith, Ann Tanksley, Nancy Brandon, Gail Shaw-Clemons, Sonia Lynn Sadler, Betty Blayton Taylor, Jimmy James Greene, Ken Wright, Raz Baaba Aaron Ibn Puri Pitts, Steve Mayo, Brenda Mattingly, Charlotte Ka, O'Neal L. Abel, Duiswe Rushemeza, Gwen Black, MLJ Johnson, Ademla Ologebefola, Cheryl Hanna, Deborah Singletary, Javaka Steptoe, Sadikisha Collier, Izell Glover, Derick Cross, Kwame Brathwaite, Veron Isreal Williams, Linda Hiwot, Nomsa Brath, Paul Deo, and Larry Joseph.

As the libations poured the dialogue began to flow. I found myself conversing in French with Haitian guitarist Wes Zafra. We were joined by my good friend international opera singer Carolyn Sebron of Manhattan, surprisingly to me that Ms. Sebron speaks French and Italian. Larger groups broke off into smaller groups as the conversations became more intimate. The New York Chapter of National Conference of Artists under the directions of Mr. Kwame Brathwaite was in great need to entertain the New York City public. What the public got was a diverse and psychedelic array of colors, styles and genres. I introduced New York to the art genre of ARTE MECCO.

Art legends and future art legends were mixed and displayed in a connoisseurs' cosmopolitan concoction of favor and ethnicity . A new classifications of artists have entered the National Conference of Artists. They bring with them brighter and newer schemes to show a growing relationship with this legendary organization. This new harmonious chord is present among this notable class of vintage artists.

The evening was retiring as we had a late dinner at the corner African cafe Dakar. Good food and good conversation waned into late night as we talked. This reminded me of a long overdue reunion of old friend bringing new ideas. We talked about the future of NCA-NY. We talked about our past trails and accomplishments. We talked like friend who just met, in which some of us were.

The New York Chapter of The National Conference of Artist art exhibition is an exhibition that the New York public will eye for the upcoming years. We as members shall improve our techniques and release the raw materials that make the National Conference of Artists a solid artistic foundation. A foundation built by the sweat of those living and have passed on.
