The mission of the Division of Examinations is to protect investors, ensure market integrity and support responsible capital formation through risk-focused strategies that: (1) improve compliance; (2) prevent fraud; (3) monitor risk; and (4) inform policy. If selected, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for supporting EXAMS' mission to conduct and coordinate the nationwide examination program for entities over which the Commission has regulatory authority.
As a Supervisory Securities Compliance Examiner, you will:
Direct employees and be responsible for working and/or consulting with a variety of individuals conducting examinations; Operate or oversee inspections in regards to surveillance and/or risk management of broker-dealers, exchanges, municipal advisors, and transfer agents; Serve as a member of an examination team in an audit or examination program of a federal, state or regulatory body in the securities or financial services industry; Assist in the planning for and conducting of examinations of broker-dealers, exchanges, municipal advisors, and transfer agents; and Provide expert analysis and review of activities related to the federal securities law requirements applicable to broker-dealers, exchanges, municipal advisors, and transfer agents. A faculty intern shall be limited to two years of participation in the program. (d) Each faculty intern shall serve under the direct supervision of a mentor who is legally qualified to teach the course or render the service that the faculty intern is providing. Evidence of demonstrated cultural competency, personal and professional life experience, and enthusiasm in serving the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial, and cultural backgrounds of community college student populations, including students with differing abilities (physical and/or learning), as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - BUSINESS ADMINISTRATIONFor those disciplines in which a master's degree is required, faculty interns shall be enrolled in a master's or doctoral program at the University of California, the California State University, or any other accredited institution of higher education subject to Chapter 3 (commencing with Section 94300) of Part 59 of the Education Code, and shall have completed at least one-half of the coursework, or the equivalent, in that graduate program. Meaning, to be considered for this internship, a qualifying candidate must be enrolled and halfway through:
• Master's in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education OR • Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) OR • Bachelor's in economics with a business emphasis AND Master's in personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) OR • the equivalent
Local Equivalency for Business
• Bachelor's degree AND a Master's degree in economics, personnel management, • public administration, or a JD or LLB degree • AND • eighteen (18) units of upper-division/graduate-level business-oriented, civil/commercial • courses ANDtwo years professional experience in business or law.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS • Desire to become a community college instructor. • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Suite and capable of learning other technology related to the role, knowledge of technology and multimedia instruction materials, such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, etc. • Interest in teaching Marketing and/or Finance (preferably Social Media Marketing and Personal Finance). • Commitment to student learning. • Sensitivity of students with a wide range of skills and educational abilities and being able to break down and explain difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand manner. • Highly proficient and adaptable organization and communication skills, especially communicating via Learning Management Systems, Email, Zoom, and other forms of electronic communication.
