Description	A natural occurring phenomenon, corrosion is defined as the decay of the material like metal, resulting from a chemical or electrochemical reaction between the metal & it’s immediate environment. Intergranular Corrosion The kind of corrosion is classified on the basis of nature & cause of material’s decay. There are some types of corrosion are completely unique, but in many cases they all are interrelated. 1.Uniform Corrosion One of the most common types of corrosion that is presented in metal, and it is characterized by an electrochemical reaction, which proceeds more or less uniformly over entire exposed surface of material. The thickness of material is reduced until the component is eventually prepared. This type of corrosion is recognizable from roughening of the surface that is accompanied in the presence of corrosion products. The protective coating is effective, and it can be added to the wall of the component. 2.Galvanic Corrosion It refers to corrosion damage, which occurs when two not similar materials that are coupled in a corrosive electrolyte. You can avoid this type of corrosion by ensuring that dissimilar materials are electrically isolated from each other. It can be prevented by applying a non-conductive coating to the surface. 3.Erosion Corrosion This is due to the relative movement between metal & corrosive fluid. In this corrosion, material is removed from the surface in contact with the fluid as dissolved once. It can be achieved by increasing diameter of pipe that also reduces problems with the changes in the flow direction. 4.Stress Corrosion This is normally known as stress corrosion cracking (SCC). This is common for all cracking issues that occur in corrosive media to be classified. 5.Inter-granular Corrosion It is characterized as electrochemical reaction attack. If there is very little corrosion of grains that can become displaced & causing the metal of disintegrating. Also, there are specific corrosion tests, which can be carried out material to confirm that it has been processed properly.
