The Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center is proud to kick-off its 2018 Barbara Lee and Elihu Harris Lecture Series on Thursday, February 1st with Civil Rights leader and Congressmember James E. Clyburn who represents South Carolina's congressional sixth district.
The lecture featuring Representative Clyburn will take place at Merritt College, 12500 Campus Drive starting at 7pm in the gymnasium. These events are open and free to the public. RSVP is encouraged by calling 510.434.3988.
In partnership with Peralta Community College District, the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center created The Barbara Lee & Elihu Harris Lecture Series to promote the vision, leadership, and accomplishments of Congresswoman Barbara Lee and former California State Assembly member, Oakland Mayor, and Peralta Community College District Chancellor Elihu Harris. The series offers an ample exchange of ideas to help inspire and move forward new leadership and servantship. The series of lectures have featured civil rights leaders who have worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, along with others like them who continue to work tirelessly for social justice.
