Musical Director Chris Nalls
We welcome Chris Nalls as our new Musical Director! Chris is Director of Instrumental Music at Branham High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Horn performance from San Jose State University and has worked with musicians at Saratoga, Lynbrook, Homestead, Branham, Independence, Oak Grove, and San Jose State University (among others). He has studied conducting with Vernon Read, Michael Haithcock, and Mallory Thompson.
As a performer, he plays in the Golden Gate Park Band, Awesome Orchestra, Cambrian Symphony, Halkins Brass, and Aeolus Woodwind Quintet. He has been a member of the Ohlone Bands for over 20 years.
San Jose Metropolitan Band
Founded in 1967, we are a contemporary concert band, and for over 50 years we have been giving performances throughout the Santa Clara Valley of California. The band is made up of more than 50 members, ranging in age from teens through 80s. Based in San Jose, the band provides an opportunity for Bay Area residents to participate in large ensemble playing while providing wholesome entertainment to the community. From Mackey to marches, patriotic tunes to Bach, and new up-and-coming composers to specialty numbers, the band encourages interest in and appreciation for all types of music.
The San Jose Metropolitan Band is supported by SVCreates, in partnership with the County of Santa Clara.
