The YWCA will offer bone density screenings at $10 per screening from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15. Heel screenings provide an indicator of your bone density level and can indicate whether you may be at risk for osteopenia or osteoporosis. Your risk of having or developing osteoporosis increases if you are: a woman, Asian or Caucasian, a smoker, or post-menopausal. Other risk factors include: lack of regular exercise, a diet low in calcium, and the use of certain medications for asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, autoimmune diseases or endometriosis. Printed results are provided. All who have screenings done are encouraged to discuss the results with a medical doctor. Appointments for the screenings are recommended
