What is the state of practice in strategic environmental assessment (SEA)? Is it making a difference to planning and decision-making? How does the experience of EU member states compare internationally?
These issues and more will be discussed at a special conference on strategic environmental assessment on 21-23 September, 2011 in Prague, Czech Republic. Organized by the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), this event will review key trends, issues, and lessons of progress in implementing SEA in Europe and internationally as well as a special session to celebrate the SEA Directive’s 10th anniversary. Other sessions will examine SEA applications in sectors, linkages between SEA and other planning and assesment tools, addressing climate change in SEA, using SEA as a sustainability tool, SEA in donor cooperation, SEA in policy-making and many other issues addressed in the conference agenda. For more information or to register, visit http://www.iaia.org/specialmeetings/prague11.
The conference will be preceded by three training courses on various aspects of SEA offered on 19-20 September. It also offers an opportunity to interested participants to use available facilities for organizing their own side events or project meetings on the margins of the conference. Should you be interested in any of these options, please contact conference the conference Co-chair:
