Position Summary This is highly responsible administrative, technical and supervisory work managing and coordinating field assignments; conducting investigations and processing violations of County zoning ordinances and regulations for the Code Administration Office. An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for management of the Code Administration Office operations, staff and all code programs including: Property Maintenance, Nuisance Abatement, Minimum Housing, Zoning and Sign Code Enforcement, Commercial Landscape and Tree Protection, Solid Waste Code Enforcement and the County's Rental Permitting Program. Ensures consistent administration/enforcement of county codes and ensures that citizen service requests are processed in a time-bound manner. Handles citizen complaints related to code administration/enforcement and makes decisions based upon sound judgment regarding the application of various codes and ordinances. Provides evidence and testimony before a Special Magistrate or other evidentiary bodies. Provides presentations to the Board of County Commissioners, citizen groups and other boards and advisory groups. Coordinates with other departments to enforce codes related to their duties such as environmental protection, building permitting, zoning, land use, solid waste collection and public health. Develops new programs to regulate business activities as necessary. Identifies opportunities to improve service delivery methods and procedures; makes recommendations to acquire software, equipment and staff levels to accomplish goals. Job Description
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
• Monitors and audits all teaching and research efforts to ensure that protocols meet regulatory and ethical standards. • Maintains records with data bases and logs which are necessary to assure the University's compliance with state and federal regulations. • Performs pre-approval inspections of research laboratories and provides consultations with principal investigators and laboratory personnel in regard to the use of radioactive materials, radiation producing devices, and lasers. • Performs sealed source leak tests, analyzes samples and reports results. • Participates in the performance of radiation monitoring in the field by using portable radiation detection instruments and in the laboratory by operating radiation measuring instruments. • Keeps informed of state and federal regulations and guidelines relating to radiation health and safety. • Coordinates with principal investigators and research laboratory personnel regarding items of non-compliance found during inspections and follows upon corrective actions. • Provides consultation services and acts as liaison to faculty, staff, students, and affiliate investigators and research staff on the application and implementation of the federal regulations, state laws, and institutional policies. • Maintains official institutional records of the actions and decisions of the Institutional Safety Committee (ISC) and compliance committee (which includes but is not limited to: Biosafety committee, Radiation Safety committee, and the Dive Control Board). • Screens ISC exempt applications to assure completions and distributes for review. • Serves as liaison, or Chair as needed, to ISC and other related institutional support functions. • Prepares presentation materials and delivers educational programs on regulatory and ethical compliance in research. Maintains attendance records and updates/tracks training status in the program database.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. • Completion of the 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER training or ability to obtain within three months of employment. • Four years of professional full-time experience in the specified field, with a minimum of 2 years in Radiation and Radiation Safety. • Experience conducting independent laboratory research protocols. • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered. • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. • Completion of recognized Environmental Health and Safety certification (e.g., CHP, CHMM, RBP) within two years. • Four years of professional full-time experience in managing research compliance and working with research compliance committees (e.g., Institutional Review Board-IRB, Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee-IACUC, export controls, etc.). • Two years of professional full-time experience working in a laboratory environment. • Experience working with research compliance committees, assessing compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. • Experience work in a higher education setting, research organization, or federal agency. • Experience with Workday or Ellucian Banner enterprise application.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

TYPICAL TASKS Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Under direction of the Park Ranger, train and oversee the day to day work and activities of up to five seasonal Park Assistants ensuring workloads are evenly distributed. Maintain positive motivation and performance levels of assigned team. Ensure that daily and weekly task lists assigned to Seasonal Park Assistant Team is performed to park standards Under direction of the Park Ranger, perform occasional administrative tasks and written reports as assigned. Provides customer service to park patrons; assesses and resolves complaints; assists volunteer park hosts as necessary; provides assistance during emergencies; prepares park for special events; assists in traffic control, parking and set up. Collects and accounts for fees in park day use and campground areas; enforces user fee compliance; processes computerized campsite reservations; ensures parks close at scheduled times and may close park as necessary. Informs and educates park users on county ordinances and regulations pertaining to the use of county parks; maintains park safety and health standards; ensures safety compliance. Under direction of a Ranger, performs tasks associated with ongoing seasonal park operations and maintenance requirements. Maintains park operation and maintenance logs and daily activity reports. Under supervision of a Ranger, performs a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, park facilities, marine facilities and other public areas. Operates, repairs and maintains a variety of machines, hand and power tools and equipment used to build, repair and replace park improvements and infrastructure; performs campground and day use area cleaning and maintenance and repair such as mowing lawns, clearing roads and trails. Clean and maintain park facilities, gutters, fire pits/grills; loads and delivers firewood; cleans and restocks restrooms, removes refuse and recycling; maintains plants and cultivates trees, shrubs and lawn. Monitors park for safety and fire hazards REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Working knowledge and/or skills to: Plan and carry out work assigned; establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, other county employees, contractors, community service workers, volunteers and the public; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; interpret and enforce park rules and regulations; prepare and maintain accurate records and reports; operate computer software; safely operate motor vehicles and manual and power tools (mowers, blowers, weed eaters, edgers); construct/repair a variety of park improvements including playground equipment, walkways, tables, benches, steps, trails, campsites, planters, barbecues, and fire pits; install/maintain signs, posts, gates and fences; accurately count and handle cash transactions. WORKING CONDITIONS Position requires frequent standing, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive forward and overhead reaching. Ability to lift/carry 100 lbs. and push objects weighing up to 90 lbs. Duties involve exposure to inclement weather, noise, dust, chemicals, fumes and continuous work around moving machinery. WORK SCHEDULE This position works up to 40 hours during a work week. Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Seasonal Park Assistant Team Leaders are expected to be available for work from April through October with the possibility of extending into mid-December. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is made.
