People

At PricewaterhouseCoopers we understand that our most valuable asset is our people.

And our success depends on the way we recruit, develop, motivate and connect them.  That means our people strategy is fundamental to our business goals.

Commitment to Workplace Diversity

A diverse workplace provides us with a rich, multifaceted culture, providing a variety of viewpoints and multicultural capabilities that our clients expect. Diversity also gives our staff role models with similar life experiences to guide them in their careers. Finally, improved diversity is the right response to the marketplace, where our increasingly diverse clients and prospects expect us to keep pace with them. We will, therefore, continue to focus on ways to attract, develop, and retain people of diverse backgrounds.

The professionals of our Office of Diversity and Worklife and the local diversity and worklife leaders  around the country administer formal and informal programs that support the personal and career development of people of diverse backgrounds, including women and minorities.

External Recognition of Our Efforts to Increase Firm Diversity

                •  Working Mothers Magazine Top 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers.

We have enjoyed this distinction for nine consecutive years. In 2001,

we were the first – and, so far, only - Big Four firm to rank in the top 10 - a feat

                   we accomplished again in 2004.

                •  Universum Best Place to Work for Minorities. Based on responses from

minority graduate and undergraduate business students, PwC ranked tenth

in the 2004 University Business Student Survey (Diversity Edition).

                •  DiversityInc. PwC ranked 33rd on DiversityInc.’s 2004 list of the Top 50

Companies for Diversity. In addition, we ranked third on its list of the best

companies for executive women, and ninth on its list of the best companies

                   for Asian-Americans.

               •  INROADS “Excellence” awards. At the recent 6th Annual INROADS Best of

Class Conference Awards banquet, PwC was honored with the INROADS

Excellence Award, given to the organizations’ top 10 corporate partners. PwC

received INROADS’ highest award, the Visionary Award, for our leadership

and vision around our approach to converting minority interns to full-time

hires. We also earned awards in the categories of retention, conversion, and

                  national accounts for our interns.

               •  2004 TWIN Award. PwC received the 2004 Corporate Recognition Award at

the 30th annual Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) awards dinner. The

tribute recognized our commitment to women in the workplace, the growing

number of leadership roles currently held by women in the firm, as well                   as the  inclusion programs and partnerships described above. TMF honors

only one company per year based on the company’s overall performance for women nationally.
