At Jack London State Historic Park, the piano will be situated on the lawn surrounded by historic buildings and cultivated land, now vineyards, all once part of Jack London's cherished ranch. This was the home base from which Jack explored every canyon, glen, and hilltop on horseback. Here, he threw himself into farming, believing it to be an idealistic means of making a living.
A significant portion of his later writing - Burning Daylight (1910), Valley of the Moon (1913), and Little Lady of the Big House (1916) - centered on the pleasures of country life, the satisfaction of making a living from the land, and remaining close to nature. Come early to hike, mountain bike, horseback ride, bird watch, take pictures, paint, picnic, relax, and learn more about Jack! (info courtesy of Jack London Park Partners)

Founded in 2016 by classical pianist Hunter Noack, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild(TM) is an outdoor concert series where America's most stunning landscapes replace the traditional concert hall. A 9-foot Steinway grand piano travels on a flatbed trailer to National Parks, urban greenspaces, working ranches, farms, and historical sites for classical music concerts that connect people with each landscape. To meet the acoustical challenges of performing in the wild, music is transmitted to concert-goers via wireless headphones. No longer confined to seats, they can explore the landscape, wander through secret glens, lie in sunny meadows, and roam old growth forests.
