The Delta Black Farmer: An Oral History Project and Exhibition will examine, collect, exhibit and preserve an often overlooked element of the history of the Mississippi Delta. Through oral history interviews, research will reveal ties to the land these farmers possessed reaching back to the mid-1900s and possibly farther. Planned events include lectures, a dinner program, site visits to farms and cooperatives around the Delta and opportunities to be involved in local farmers' markets. The culminating event will be a final exhibition discussing the evolution of the black farmer in the Mississippi Delta
