Nationally known by art connoisseurs for his breathtaking "sculptured paintings," fine artist Rudolphus Thorpe is no stranger to the art world.
Rudolphus, a self-taught artist, is famous for serenading one's soul with his sculptures of simple but elegant lines, silhouettes, and elongated figures on canvas. He has earned a national reputation as a sculpture painter that paints pictures that "Breathe life into the soul."
Thorpe's distinctive work has been showcased at the Philadephia Art Expo, The Essence Festival, Black Heritage Show, Sankofa Art Festival, Lake Meadow
Art Show, President Jimmy Carter Presidential Center, Morehouse School of Medicine Annual Golf Tournament, Heritage Gallery, Starr Art Gallery, Neleh's
Gallery, Takoma Station Jazz Cafe, Detroit's Black McDonald's Owners of America, and many other galleries and businesses around the country.
His work is in many private and public collections and adorns the walls of Flavours Jazz Restaurant, Baseball legend Hank Aaron, Smokey Robinson, Kim Coles, Bernadette Stanis, Radio Personality Donnie Simpson, Media Magnate Ed Gordon, Golf legends Calvin Peete and Lee Elder, Jeanie Jones of WKYS Radio in Washington,DC, Justine Love of WPGC Radio in Washington,DC, Doc Walker (Redskins) and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church (Bishop Eddie L. Long). Rudolphus was the featured artist for the NFL Super Bowl XL in 2005 in Jacksonville,FL and in 2006, he was the first African American artist commissioned to paint the Super Bowl 40 and NFL logo in Detroit.
In 2007, Rudolphus was one of the featured artist for Ebony Fashion Fair's 50th year anniversary and was featured in Jet Magazine. He has also been featured in numerous magazines which include Upscale, Home of Color, Good News, Arts and Expressions, Paint Magazine, Atlanta Metro and People You Need to Know in Atlanta and has served as a guest on several radio talk shows.

The National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) is a non-profit association of Black health care executives founded in 1968 for the purpose of promoting the advancement and development of Black health care leaders, and elevating the quality of health care services rendered to minority and underserved communities. Since its inception, NAHSE has sponsored and participated in local and national programs and projects designed to improve quality, access and availability to health services and to expand educational opportunities in the field of Health Services Administration. NAHSE's purpose is to ensure greater participation of minority groups in the health field. Its basic objective is to develop and maintain a strong viable national body to more effectively have input in the national health care delivery system. It has provided a vehicle for Blacks to effectively participate in the design, direction and delivery of quality health care to all people. |

In September 1987, the Kunta Kinte Celebration was born in Annapolis, Maryland. America's first national capital. The celebration marked a momentous historical occasion for all African Americans and particularly Marylanders. For over ten years, Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival has provided an opportunity for people from all over the world to become educated about African American contributions, be entertained by talented performers, to marvel at exceptional work by skillful artists, to enjoy exquisite cuisine from various cultures and to renew or energize family ties. |
